Business to Business Marketing Vs Business to Consumer …

posted by beranerday

in editorial

When it comes to making money with affiliate marketing, you have more than one avenue to pursue. You can opt for business to business affiliate marketing (also known as B2B marketing), or you can go for the more traditional business to consumer marketing method (known as B2C method). While both types of marketing are a viable way to make money quickly online, they are very different in terms of approach. So what are these differences, and how can you decide which one works best for your needs? In this article, we discuss both types of affiliate marketing in depth, so you can decide which one works best for your company.

What Is Business to Business Marketing?

In B2B marketing, you form relationships with other companies that sell products or services similar to those you sell. Or you form relationships with companies that target a similar audience to yours. Using affiliate marketing methods, you promote their products and services, for a percentage of the sales, and they do the same for your company. With business to business marketing, you are in a sense, forming a marketing alliance to target a very specific audience or niche of consumers. You are also forming mutually beneficial relationships with other companies within your industry, relationships that could be helpful sometime in your company’s future.

What Is Business to Consumer Marketing?

Business to consumer marketing is a more traditional method of affiliate marketing. Rather than form partnerships with other companies, you cast a wide marketing net in the hopes of snagging an audience of consumers. In other words, you focus on building relationships with individual consumers rather than with other businesses who share your same audience. If you are new to marketing or to business ownership, you will need to define your audience and then spend a great deal of time working through the trial-and-error stage of hooking that audience on your company. Of course, proper training from a top paying affiliate company can help make this process much easier.

Why Would I Choose B2B over B2C?

Business to business marketing is considered by marketing experts to be the most efficient way of marketing online. The more precise and targeted your marketing efforts, the less money you spend on advertising, the lower your effort at finding and retaining an audience, and the bigger the results you see. Finding an audience by choosing the B2C method can be time consuming and can require a bigger budget than most start up businesses possesses. By choosing B2B, you form valuable relationships with other companies and hone your marketing efforts on a sharply defined consumer group.

Is Making Money with Affiliate Marketing Possible?

No matter which method you choose, making money with affiliate marketing is not only possible, it’s a given. If you are tired of the rat race and long for financial independence, choosing either method (B2B or B2C) can help you quit your day job and seize control of your finances. Signing up for the right kind of instruction from an affiliate marketing training company can help you decide which method works best for your needs, and which method will help you take your business to the next level.

How Can I Choose the Right Training Program?

The key to choosing the right program is simple: look for proven techniques. No matter which kind of affiliate marketing you want to pursue, find the training that gives you the proven techniques you need to master in order to make money quickly online. Through training and support, you can learn the skills you need to become your own boss and start a home based business in affiliate marketing that will make you financially independent.

Monitoring tides could predict major quakes

posted by beranerday

in editorial

THE rise and fall of the tides could help us to predict major earthquakes like the magnitude 9 quake that triggered Japan’s tsunami last year.

Sachiko Tanaka of the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention in Tsukuba, Japan, says that as stresses build up in the Earth’s crust, it becomes more susceptible to minor earthquakes triggered by tidal forces, a sign of major quakes to come. She has spent over a decade amassing evidence for her theory. According to her latest results, tidally triggered earthquakes were rife off the north-east coast of Japan for several years before 2011′s massive earthquake.

“I read hundreds of earthquake prediction papers,” says Ross Stein of the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California. “The vast majority is dry rot. Tanaka’s stands out. It could be very important.”

At high tide, more water is piled up on top of geological faults, adding to the stress acting on the rocks. If the fault is already close to rupture, the effect can trigger small tremors.

Tanaka compared records of tides and submarine earthquakes from 1976 to 2011 for 100,000 square kilometres surrounding the epicentre of last year’s quake. For the first 25 years of records, there was no sign of tidally triggered earthquakes, but after 2000 the number of these quakes gradually increased, reaching a peak just before last year’s megaquake. Afterwards, the effect disappeared again (Geophysical Research Letters, DOI: 10.1029/2012GL051179).

Tanaka’s findings show that stress was building up in the region for a decade before the main quake struck. Her earlier research had uncovered a similar effect in the run-up to three Sumatran earthquakes, including the 2004 quake that caused the Boxing Day tsunami. Tidal quakes happened more frequently in the run-up to bigger quakes, suggesting stress had built up year-on-year.

Despite decades of effort, seismologists still cannot reliably predict earthquakes. Tanaka’s approach is promising, but Harold Tobin of the University of Wisconsin-Madison points out that her analysis was done after the quake happened.

Tanaka is cautious, but will now try predicting quakes. “I am planning to monitor tidal triggering in the north-eastern Japan and Sumatra subduction zones,” she says.

“Just for something to have this level of promise is unique,” says Stein.

Crude down, hits biggest 3-wk loss since Aug ’11

posted by beranerday

in editorial

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Crude oil futures fell more than 1 percent on Friday, down for the sixth straight session, as worsening problems in Greece and Spain raised worries of contagion in the euro zone.

Oil futures fell on the drumbeat from global stock markets, which erased the year’s gains as investors pared holdings for safe-haven assets such as gold, on growing concerns about the euro zone debt crisis.

On Wall Street, equities dipped after a messy opening-day trade for social networking darling Facebook failed to lift the spirits of investors.

U.S. gasoline futures bucked the day’s trend in energy markets, gaining slightly after six days of losses and climbing above its 200-day moving average after falling below that level on Thursday for the first time since February.

Oil investors were cautious ahead of the G8 summit this weekend where U.S. President Barack Obama was reported by Japanese news agency Kyodo to be seeking support for tapping the release of emergency oil reserves ahead of the European Union’s July embargo of Iranian crude.

Obama will host the G8 meeting at Camp David in Maryland.

Reversal of the Seaway pipeline was completed earlier this week and its first crude oil headed for Houston from Cushing, Oklahoma, is expected to flow by the weekend, according to owners Enterprise Products and Enbridge Inc .

Anticipation of the landmark move, which was expected to help ease the glut in Midwest crude stockpiles, had reduced Brent’s spread against U.S. crude in recent days, but on Friday, the spread widened, amid caution from analysts that impact of the reversal could be slow to hit the U.S. oil markets.

FUNDAMENTALS

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude for June delivery, which expires on Tuesday, settled at $91.48 a barrel, falling $1.08, or 1.17 percent. For the week, it slid $4.65, or 4.84 percent, down for the a third in a row.

In three weeks, front-month U.S. crude has slumped $13.45, or 12.82 percent, the biggest three-week loss since the week to August 14, 2011, when prices dropped 14.54 percent.

In London, ICE July Brent crude settled at $107.14 a barrel, edging down 35 cents, or 0.33 percent, the lowest close for front-month Brent since the December 20, 2011 settlement at $106.73 and extending losses to a third straight week.

In three weeks, front-month Brent has fallen $12.69, or 10.59 percent, its biggest three-week drop since the week to May 20, 2011, when prices ended 10.72 percent lower.

July Brent’s premium against U.S. July crude widened to $15.34, from $14.55 on Thursday, as Brent fell far less than U.S. crude.

NYMEX June heating oil fell 1.90 cents, or 0.67 percent, to settle at $2.83 a gallon, dropping for the third consecutive day. For the week, the contract fell 13.36 cents, or 4.51 percent, stretching weekly losses a third week.

In three weeks, front-month heating oil dropped 35.07 cents, or 11.03 percent, the biggest three-week loss since the week to May 8, 2011, when prices fell 11.94 percent.

NYMEX June RBOB gasoline settled at $2.8895 a gallon, up 1.13 cents, or 0.39 percent, snapping a six-day losing streak. However, for the week, the contract fell 11.13 cents, or 3.71 percent, biggest since the loss of 7.19 percent in the week to May 4. The loss followed a small gain of 0.84 percent in the week to May 11.

Hedge funds and big speculators cut their bullish bets on U.S. crude oil and options by 12,789 contracts, to 140,936, in the week to May 15, hitting the lowest level since late 2010, according to a weekly report from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The number of oil drilling rigs in the United States rose 10 to 1,382 last week, the highest level in 25 years, according to a weekly report from oil services firm Baker Hughes.

U.S. petroleum consumption fell 0.3 percent in April from a year ago, to 18.549 million barrels per day and gasoline usage climbed for the third month in a row, the American Petroleum Institute said.

Iraq’s oil exports from is southern ports have slipped by 170,000 bpd so far this month, according to shipping data tracked by Reuters, although Iraq hopes remain it will sustain shipments at April’s record rate.

MARKETS NEWS

Gold rose more than 1 percent, on track for its largest two-day gain since October as investors consolidated their positions ahead of the weekend and amid a stronger euro.

U.S. stocks fell after a sloppy debut by Facebook Inc failed to brighten the mood on Wall Street.

The euro rallied from a four-month low against the dollar as investors pared bets against the single currency after a more than 3 percent drop this month, but concerns about the euro zone were likely to keep it under pressure.

Copper fell for a third straight week, having lost 4.5 percent of its value over the past five days, on fears Europe’s spiraling debt crisis and China’s slowdown will erode demand for metals.

Laser-toting MAV can find its way in tight spaces, might eventually hunt you down (video)

posted by beranerday

A perpetual weakness of MAVs (micro air vehicles) is their frequent need for hand-holding in anything other than a wide-open or very controlled space. If they’re not using GPS or motion sensors to find their locations, they can’t turn on a dime the way a human pilot would. Adam Bry, Abraham Bachrash and Nicholas Roy from MIT’s CSAIL group haven’t overcome every problem just yet, but they may have taken combat drones and other pilotless aircraft a big step forward by giving them the tools needed to fly quickly when positioning isn’t an option. Uniting a laser rangefinder with an existing 3D map of the environment — still ‘cheating,’ but less dependent — lets the prototype flyer find the distance to nearby obstacles and steer clear even at speeds that would scare any mere mortal MAV. Ideally, future designs that can create their own maps will be completely independent of humans, making us think that MIT’s references to “aggressive” autonomous flight are really cues to start hiding under the bed.

(AP) ?

Time to get out the cameras: Britain’s most photogenic man will be bringing the Olympic flame back from Greece.

David Beckham is joining officials at a handover ceremony Thursday in Athens, as the Olympic torch travels from the ruins of the ancient games in Olympia to a naval base in Cornwall, southern England.

The former England national team captain who now plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy was among those who helped London snatch the 2012 Summer Games away from Paris, the favorite. He will carry the torch back to the U.K. on a flight Friday along with Princess Anne and Olympic officials.

From there, the torch begins an Anglophile’s dream tour ? a 70-day, 8,000-mile (12,875-kilometer) journey past nearly every iconic site on the island: Big Ben, Stonehenge, the white cliffs of Dover, you name it. It ends up at Olympic Stadium in London to highlight the opening ceremony on July 27 and burns brightly until the Aug. 12 closing ceremony.

Here’s a look at the torch travels:

IT ALL BEGAN IN GREECE

The flame is part of a ritual that began last week when actress Ino Menegaki, dressed as a high priestess, stood before the 2,600-year-old Temple of Hera. She had a word with Apollo, the ancient Greeks’ Sun God, and then used a concave mirror to focus the sun’s rays to light a torch. The torch has spent over a week being relayed around Greece, a deeply proud country that probably could use some good cheer of late. Greeks came up with the concept of democracy, let’s not forget, and the whole notion of having games in the first place was their idea.

Yet there were more people waiting for buses along the streets of Athens on Wednesday than there were waiting for the flame to pass. Some say Greece’s deep economic troubles began when officials overspent to host the 2004 Athens Olympics.

THE TRIP TO BRITAIN

The torch always travels first class, gets its own seat and its own guard. This time it’s on British Airways flight 2012, placed in a miner’s lantern for the safety of everyone else on the plane. Once it lands in Britain, it stays safe and secure at a Royal Naval base before it goes off into the wilds of the British Isles.

FROM WEST TO EAST, SOUTH TO NORTH

A total of 8,000 people will carry the torch during the 70-day relay that begins at Land’s End ? the furthest point west in England ? and reaches the Shetland Islands, off Scotland’s northern coast. It also goes to Ireland as a special gesture of goodwill. They are neighbors, after all.

QUAINT TO ICONIC

The torch heads to places big and small, from quaint towns like Old Leake and Hogsthorpe to bigger cities like Nottingham, home of the legendary nemesis of Robin Hood. It crisscrosses the country, passing through Stratford upon Avon, where the famous bard William Shakespeare was born. Cambridge and Oxford will study it briefly. It trots through Coventry, where Lady Godiva went on her famous (nude) ride. It will burn bright at the ancient monoliths of Stonehenge and dance through the Liverpool base of the Fab Four. Brighton and its famous pavilion, Dover and its white cliffs ? the photo ops just keep on coming.

THE TORCHBEARERS

Who carries the torch? Nice people. Thousands of community organizers, cancer survivors, disabled children, veterans and other local heroes will each do a stint. Olympic organizers hope that torchbearers will inspire the nation since they are the ones who fight real fires and save children and work to better their communities.

KEEPING IT SAFE

Not surprisingly, the torch is a magnet for all sorts of people who want publicity. The London Olympics have a 9.3 billion-pound ($14.6-billion) price tag for Britain and a fair number of people think the Conservative-led government could have spent the money more wisely during this economic downturn.

Just recently, a man protesting austerity measures dove into the water to interrupt the annual Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge.

The Olympic flame has its own security team and they are well aware of the human rights protests that accompanied the 2008 Beijing Olympics torch relay as it journeyed the world. Afterward, the International Olympic Committee decided to keep the relay in the host country and had to give special permission to let the 2012 relay go to Ireland as a gesture of political goodwill.

PARTIES, PARTIES EVERYWHERE

Best thing about the Olympic torch relay: there are street parties and community events everywhere it goes, night after night. Brits like a good party ? this is a country where the pub remains a cherished institution and a good pint is never too far away.

It is very similar to the recently released RAZR, just thicker to?accommodate?the larger battery. I can’t tell you how excited I am that someone finally designed a phone [...]

US Department of Labor provides grant to assist workers in US Virgin Islands affected by closure of oil refinery owned by territorys largest employer

WASHINGTON ? The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $7,842,250 National Emergency Grant to assist more than 1,200 workers affected by layoffs that resulted from the closure of the Hovensa oil refinery on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Hovensa was the largest private employer in the U.S. Virgin Islands and operated one of the largest oil refineries in the Western Hemisphere.

“The Hovensa refinery’s closure was a significant blow to many workers as well as the community at large,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. “The federal funding announced today will provide re-employment services to help individuals impacted by the layoffs find good jobs in high-growth industries.”

In February, the refinery ceased all operations, resulting in layoffs of 1,158 workers employed directly by Hovensa and many more employed by 17 of the company’s contractors.

“Today’s announcement reflects the Labor Department’s commitment to address the effects of Hovensa’s closure on the St. Croix community and the federal interagency collaboration needed to address the challenges faced by all U.S. territories,” said Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, whose assistant secretary for insular affairs, Tony Babauta, co-chairs with the White House the Interagency Group on Insular Areas. The group is working closely with U.S. Virgin Islands leaders and the St. Croix community to rebuild their economy and develop a sound way forward.

This grant, awarded to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Labor, will be used to prepare dislocated workers for employment in demand-driven occupations with portable and transferrable credentials.

Of the $7,842,250 announced today, $3,631,937 will be released initially. Additional funding up to the amount approved will be made available as the territory demonstrates a continued need for assistance.

National Emergency Grants are part of the secretary of labor’s discretionary fund and are awarded based on the ability of a state or territory to meet specific guidelines. For more information, visit http://www.doleta.gov/NEG/.
